Music Roundup #2

    It's been a while since the last YouTube roundup, but rest assured: I have absolutely been listening to music in the meantime. Last time, I kept the theme of Vocaloid songs only, but you know what? Whatever! Most of these lists are still gonna be Vocaloid, but I do also listen to other stuff.

    Ode to Splurging - Adeliae
    I first found Adeliae via their Miku song Microwave and fell in love with pretty much everything else they've made after that. This one has a really good video by Kanehisa Kazuya (a.k.a., the person who did the animation for Hai Yorokonde by Kocchi no Kento).
    Suspicious Phone Call - r-906
    My current obsession with r-906's work continues! I could fill this list with a bunch more, but I'll restrain myself and just post one of my absolute favorites.

    Oops, I lied, I'm including a second r-906 song. This one deserves an extra shoutout because I listened to it soooo much while working. Flashing/photosensitivity warning for the video, though.
    Kattarui-na! (So Tired!) - Adeliae
    Aaand one more Adeliae song too. To be fair, they released both the previous one on this list and this one pretty recently.
    Neko mo Shakushi mo Mizuirirazu - gomennasaigaienakute
    This producer's name is a mouthful, but I really like them a lot! While I have some knowledge of Japanese, I'm unsure how to best translate the title of this song (猫も杓子も水入らず) so I just wrote a transliteration in romaji here. Anyway, here's a really good song that deserves more than 21k views in 2 years!
    Daidaidaidaidaikirai - Amala
    It took a while for me to actually give this song a chance because, well, honestly? The thumbnail set off some alarm bells for me, as far as recent, uh... aesthetic trends in Vocaloid visual direction. I'll leave it at that, though, because this is not that! I was pleasantly surprised to find that this song and music video are both really good! Hooray! Flashing/photosensitivity warning for the video.

    Okay, I genuinely did forget I'd be including a third r-906 song on this list. But it really deserves a spot. Also, how cool is LeuR? I enjoy the way r-906 tunes her, and her character design is so dang cute.
    Cookie - wotaku
    Another LeuR song that's been getting stuck in my head. Very cute aesthetic in this video as well.
    Haunted Dance - Mr. Asyu
    I discovered this one while revisiting some covers Maretu posted a while back on his second account. Some really solid chiptune type stuff!
    Get Dumber - PUP feat. Jeff Rosenstock
    See? I listen to things that aren't Vocaloid! I'm not super familiar with PUP, but my wife and I are big Jeff Rosenstock fans, so I had to jump on this one. The video's pretty fuckin' good too, with the silly on-screen lyrics, Jeff completely forgetting his line and them leaving it in, the delightful little dance, the bad early 3D animation aesthetic... You know what, just watch it.
    Cause of Death - Chris Farren
    Another unfortunately relatable banger about mental illness and fear of one's own mortality from Chris Farren.
